ClearLooks.com used to be a home decor store, which grew to a small business that helped fund my college expenses. Using smart search engine optimization (SEO) techniques, the store ranked top 10 on Google, top 3 on Yahoo and top 5 on MSN (now Bing) on searches for “home decorating” and “home decorating ideas”. The store attracted more than fifty thousand unique viewers, and received over a quarter million page views per month.
As a lead web designer of Yourlicit, a start-up funded by Y Combinator, I learned many invaluable lessons while striving to design a product that people were willing to buy. One of the biggest challenges, perhaps the most painful to overcome, was giving up on a mature, unproven product to start on a new product idea. Our failure to build a marketable product turned out to be the most valuable lesson of all.
I love taking things apart to understand how they work. Drawing and painting come naturally to me. Helping people achieve something gives me great pleasure. My passions are the key drivers of success.
